Message From Gloria Gandara, Board President
Board Member Trainee: At the August Board Meeting, the Board discussed having Board Member Trainees for Casa timeshare owners who wish to run for the Board. Board Member Trainees would attend Board meeting to see how Casa’s Board meetings are held. Board Member Trainees would also learn what to expect of Board Members.
At the August Board Meeting, Dick Kiner, Vice President, announced that he will not be seeking office in May 2022. For this reason, the Board believes that it would be appropriate to start the Board Member Trainee Program in 2021. Anyone who is interested in running to be on the Board and would like to be a Board Member Trainee, please contact me at email@example.com.

As you know, 2020 has proven to be a challenging year, and we have had many challenges getting the construction of the new spa off the ground. It has been decided to hold off on the building of the new spa for a year or so. We are looking for pricing to come down and availability of contractors to go up.
Until then, the existing spa is in service. We will operate the use of the deck and spa within the pandemic guidelines. These can change quickly, so feel free to give us a call prior to your arrival for the latest information.
Hoping 2021 will be a much better year for everybody.
What’s New in the Village?
Some of your favorite restaurants have closed their doors for good, such as Whisknladle and Crab Catcher. The Whisknladle space on Wall Street will house the new Marisi Italiano restaurant. We also have a new, Greek restaurant, Spiro’s, that just opened on Prospect Street.
Mermaids and Cowboys is a new restaurant in town. As you might guess, you can have delicious seafood or enjoy a juicy steak. Mermaids and Cowboys is also located on Prospect Street replacing the now closed Alphonso’s Mexican restaurant.
You can always count on the Sunday Farmers Market. For 22 years, the La Jolla Open Aire Market has been a favorite place, come rain or shine. Of course, there are restrictions in place and all of the social distancing rules being observed. Still, from Casa, it is a nice Sunday morning walk to browse through the locally grown produce, international food, and handcrafted arts and gifts.
Parking can be challenging to find with all the restaurants spreading out into the streets for outside dining; so, it is very nice that we are only a short stroll to the Village!
